Lights, Camera...oh dear...

Tonight was our first flirtation with USTREAM.  All we did was turn on the lights, fire up the laptop and login.  It went all down hill from there.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I learned beginning with the fact that I should never (let me emphasize that...NEVER) be on camera. 

First our guest demonstrator was a little late - not her fault - it was a miscommunication regarding time for the broadcast.

Second I tried to fill in....big mistake...I touched my nose several times (I promise I wasn't pickin')...I said ummmm over a dozen times...I lost track of my thoughts and checked my text messages while on air (this was rude but I did find out we were on air and had sound.) and finally I had no makeup on so I look washed out.

Last I was taking camera direction long distance from a Utah friend on how to set up the camera.  Another big mistake because we were on a little time delay and her direction was behind my efforts to get a good image.

The long and the short of this is that I am willing to take all the good natured ribbing coming my way so I am posting the recorded session here.  It is not great but the next one will be better because we are streaming our doodle class on Saturday and I am going to practice....a lot!

 Ok...as if this is not all enough I can't get the recording to embed here...believe me I know it is just me.  So here is the link...go, have fun, laugh until the tears run down your legs.  As for me if I was a drinking girl I would have a drink but I am not so I am thinking some water with lemon and maybe a piece of chocolate to calm me down.

Shabby Chic....

Last October a dear friend went to a wonderful event called SPARK the EVENT presented by our friends Margie Romney.  Margie is a dream of a girl.  She is funny and talented and lovely.  She makes beautiful things and she is a true. 

Jackie came home raving about an altered book she started and turned up her nose at an altered book I had created for Halloween.  I told her my feelers were hurt and frankly I made a mountain out of a molehill {which I hope she has forgiven me for doing} because I am just that silly.

Now all these months later I have created a Shabby Chic Altered Book for a Workshop on March 17th.  It is so pink and so girlie and so pretty...hmmmm.  Lisa found beautiful wings to use on the cover and then left me to create something she would like as well.  We are going to pleat paper, use doilies, stain and spritz, ink and color, and so much more.  Lisa and I chose the beautiful new Pink Paislee papers and embellishments for this book.  I have 8 spots open for this workshop.  Here are the pictures...if you like what you see please join me for a wonderful Saturday at Girlfriends.

I am still finishing the last two sections.  Prepare to be amazed (cough).  The cost for this workshop is $55.  There are too many techniques to mention.  I hope you will come and Jackie....hmmmm....I signed you up already!

Our class schedule for March changed.

I know this can cause those of you who were planning to attend some of these workshops to either change your schedule, miss workshops or hopefully it will cause no problems at all.

Here is the skinny.  We ordered product for these classes and workshops when we went to our trade show in January.  Now we find that some of these orders have been delayed due to their arrival from China.  No product...No Workshop.

The new class schedule is as follows and will not be changed.
(unlikely demise of Lisa or myself may effect a change...lol)

somedays....

Somedays are just the perfect days for playing as hard as you work...that is what today was like.

It was windy today...gusty...chilly...rainy and windy!!!  I have heard the winds got over 45 mph.  I just know that from time to time it sounded like the roof was being lifted off the building.  It was perfect day for Lisa and I to visit with friends and create some new samples for the shop.  To those of you who braved the weather to come in and shop and create and play...you brought the sunshine with you!

I started the day with a project that will remain in the corner of my closet because it is awful...see I make ugly stuff from time to time as well!  Lisa started the day with her Spring Word Art Sample.  It is so cute!  She chose Simple Stories new girlie papers for the project (I adore these papers and colors).  I started working on some more photo blocks to show off our beautiful tissues.  It was non-stop creative chaos right up to closing time.  We also got to advise our friends Jann and Judy in choosing papers for their WordArt project.

Here are the samples we came up with today...It leaves only one question...what's next, Batman?

workshops and wonder women

It has come to my attention that the women who invest their time, talent, $, and humor into our workshop are actually real live WONDER WOMEN.

At our workshop last Saturday 9 of the most amazing women came to share the day with us.  Lisa and I had the tables set...everything was in order...the sample was on display...bring on WONDER WOMEN!

I thought this would be a 4-5 hour workshop. Oh no!  These sweet women came from near (Twin Falls) and far (Salt Lake, Boise, Rupert, American Falls, and Hailey)for a marathon 8 hour workshop with a short lunch break in the middle.

But as the street lights were blinking on and the sandman was on his way we finished.  We laughed, we munched, we played, we learned and most of all we, the WONDER WOMEN created a little piece of art for the next generation.
